Do the following to place degrees after a name in order. List bachelor's degree; A bachelor's degree should be placed first after the name. Common initials used may include B.A. For Bachelor of Arts and B.S. For Bachelor of Science. Follow the abbreviation with a comma if there are additional degrees to list. List master's degree; Next, add the initials for the type of master's degree. If you would like to list two degrees after your name, you can insert commas between the two degrees. For example, if John Smith has a Masters of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) and is a Registered Nurse (R.N.), his displayed name would be: John Smith, M.S.N., R.N.
Many people have asked me how they can add professional credentials or designations after their name on their LinkedIn profile (MA, MD, JD, MBA, PhD, CFP, CPA, etc)! LinkedIn doesn’t have a suffix field, so how can you do this?
LinkedIn absolutely allows you to use suffixes and certifications in your profile’s name fields. It is stated on the site here.
First, you could add it onto your last name (so mine becomes Nicola Fairweather, Ph.D) where “Fairweather, Ph.D” is my last name.
To change your name on your profile:
- Move your cursor over Profile at the top of your homepage and select Edit Profile.
- Click the Edit icon to the right of your name in the top section of your profile.
- Change the text in the two fields under Name. Add your credentials to the Last Name field (for example, Last Name = Fairweather Ph.D).
- Click Save.
Or, even better - You can also display your credentials on your profile by adding a Certifications section.
- Move your cursor over Profile at the top of your homepage and select Edit Profile.
- Under the Profile Overview section you'll see Add a section to your profile.
- Click View More to see the full list of sections.
- Select Add Certifications when on the Certifications box.
- Complete the prompted fields.
- Click Save.
To add even more certifications:
- Move your cursor over Profile at the top of your homepage and select Edit Profile.
- Scroll down to the Certifications section and click Add certificate.
- Complete the prompted fields and click Save.
